Château Buskett (R.H.B. Limited) is searching for a Kitchen Helper
Job Description
The Kitchen Helper is expected to assist the Head Chef in food preparation whilst also
maintaining the kitchen work areas in excellent condition. He/she is to demonstrate good knowledge of food handling procedures in the daily kitchen operations.
Duties
• Inspect and clean food preparation areas, such as equipment and work surfaces, or
serving areas to ensure conformance to safe and sanitary food-handling standards
• Assist in the food preparation and cook various types of food, according to recipes
and as instructed by the Head Chef, either on a regular basis or for special guests or
function
• Wash kitchen utensils, dishes, fridges, freezers, tables and other kitchen items and
equipment
• Support the Head Chef in the kitchen operations
• Store deliveries as instructed by the Head Chef
• Organise and upkeep the storage, fridge and freeze
• Assist other departments wherever necessary and maintain good working
relationships
• Comply with all employer guidelines and legal requirements for health and safety,
hygiene, fire safety, licensing and employment
Work Schedule
• 40 hours a week split as required by venue opening hours
• Being accessible during the evening and on weekends
Qualifications
Experience
• Minimum experience of 2 years in a similar position
• Assist other departments wherever necessary and maintain good working
relationships
Knowledge and Skills Required
• Basic knife skills
• Must be an excellent team player
• Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure
• Dedicated to food quality and control
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• Must have problem solving abilities, be self-motivated and organised
• Strong knowledge of proper food handling and sanitation standards
Education and Training
• Certification in basic food handling
