At this time this full-time vacancy for Fitter within the Plant Facilities Section is intended for Day work.  In the future deployment might vary according to business needs. The Plant Facilities Section offers work in a varying, exciting and changing work environment across different set-ups in areas both inside and outside.


In the role, the selected candidate will be mainly, but not only, responsible to:

- Assist in the maintenance of plant equipment and vehicles;
- Conduct general repairs including those to plant equipment, fixtures and fittings and to assist in the installation and upgrades of such;
- Work within established work practices yet at the same time take initiative in a safe and practical manner when addressing non-routine situations;
- Ensure that any resources, including material needed for a particular job, will be available before starting that process;
- Be able to contribute towards the estimation of costs and duration of repairs.

Qualifications

The chosen candidates need to have an MQF level 1 certification and be able to communicate well both in spoken and written English and preferably Maltese. The ideal candidates will also:

- Hold other educational certificates, preferably including those in English and Mathematics at MQF Level 3;
- Demonstrate an understanding in, or an inclination to learn more on, one or more of the electrical, plumbing, mechanical, building, metal fabrication, carpentry and HVAC trades;
- Be inclined to use basic computer applications such as MS Outlook and Word;
- Show that they can work on own initiative and without the need for close supervision;
- Be capable of communicating effectively sideways as well as upwards.


On the job training will be given to the selected candidate. The Company will support the incumbents in furthering their studies/ certifications in business relevant fields.
