MALTA YEAR SET 2006 - OFFICIAL ISSUE BY THE CENTRAL BANK OF MALTA
The 2006 Maltese decimal coin set was struck by the Royal Mint in the UKand includes eight distinct denominations, ranging from the 3 Mils coin up to the 1 Lira coin.
The coins included in the 2006 Malta decimal set featured unique Maltese wildlife, flora, and cultural emblems, designed largely by the Maltese artist Noel Galea Bason:
3 Mils: Scallop-shaped coin featuring a bee and honeycomb on the reverse, with dolphins.
1 Cent: Copper-nickel coin depicting a ballotra (common weasel).
2 Cents: Depicting the żebbuġa (olive branch).
5 Cents: Depicting the qobru (fresh water crab).
10 Cents: Depicting the lampuka (Dorado/Mahi-mahi fish).
25 Cents: Featuring the ghirlanda (Maltese flora/garland).
50 Cents: Featuring the tulliera.
