MALTA YEAR SET 2005 - OFFICIAL ISSUE BY THE CENTRAL BANK OF MALTA

The 2005 Malta Annual Coin Set is an official Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) collection by the Central Bank of Malta. It marks a historic era, featuring the final series of the Maltese Lira before the country transitioned to the Euro.

This set includes eight distinct denominations, ranging from the 2 Mils coin up to the 1 Lira coin.

The coins included in the 2005 Malta decimal set featured unique Maltese wildlife, flora, and cultural emblems, designed largely by the Maltese artist Noel Galea Bason:

1 Cent: Copper-nickel coin depicting a ballotra (common weasel).
2 Cents: Depicting the żebbuġa (olive branch).
5 Cents: Depicting the qobru (fresh water crab).
10 Cents: Depicting the lampuka (Dorado/Mahi-mahi fish).
25 Cents: Featuring the ghirlanda (Maltese flora/garland).
50 Cents: Featuring the tulliera.
1 Lira: Depicting the national coat of arms of Malta

A 2 mils coin of the first series (initially issued in 1972) is included to complete the historical set.
