This is an official silver commemorative medal issued by the State of Vatican City (Stato della Città del Vaticano) in 2022. It was specifically minted under the pontificate of Pope Francis as a charitable initiative, with all commercial proceeds from its sale donated directly to aid the Ukrainian people affected by the war.
• Obverse (Designed by Orietta Rossi): Depicts three figures—a mother and two children—fleeing a war-torn city destroyed by bombings. One child carries a rolling suitcase, while the other holds a small stuffed toy. Above them, the word for "Peace" is engraved in both Latin (PAX) and Cyrillic (МИР).
• Reverse (Designed by Daniela Longo): Features a dove of peace carrying an olive branch above the papal coat of arms of Pope Francis. It includes a passage from a prayer recited by the Pope during his General Audience on March 16, 2022 ("Lord Jesus, born under the bombs...").
