In-Nahla Katerina's Maltese Spring Honey [100g] | Ghasel Malti | Ghasel ta' Malta
€ 10.00
Description
A sweet new chapter in Malta’s biodiversity story has just begun. The first honey in the In-Naħla Katerina Maltese Honey Trilogy has officially been released, and it’s a celebration of springtime, storytelling, and sustainability, all in one beautifully crafted, limited-edition jar. Introducing Maltese Spring Honey, a 100g artisanal honey inspired by the beloved children’s song In-Naħla Katerina.
Harvested between May and June, this special honey pays tribute to Malta’s blooming countryside and the remarkable pollinators that help sustain it. It is produced exclusively by Apis mellifera ruttneri, the endemic Maltese Honey Bee, found only on our islands and officially recognised as Malta’s National Insect.
Typically golden-yellow in colour with a smooth, liquid consistency, Maltese Spring Honey is a delightful multi-floral variety. It is predominantly made from the nectar of Red Clover (Hedysarum coronarium), Boar Thistle (Galactites tomentosa), Citrus trees (Citrus spp.), Borage (Borago officinalis), and other flora that flourish across Malta in spring. While the exact floral composition may vary depending on location and rainfall, the honey’s light, floral flavour consistently reflects the richness of the season. Naturally unprocessed, this honey tends to crystallise a few months after harvesting, a sign of its authenticity and purity.
