LEAD AIRPORT AGENT
AVIATION SERVIRCES HANDLING LTD
The figure of the Lead Airport Agent acts as the primary intermediary contact between the desk agent/s and the
Duty Station Coordinator for Front of House.
This position at the time of writing is exclusive to KM MALTA AIRLINES (KMM) flights since the concept of
the position was requested by and agreed with the carrier.
In addition to the below airport agent duties , the LEAD AIRPORT AGENT is expected to:
? Act as a close liaison to both desk agents and Duty Station Coordinator
? Be assessed and qualified as a “super-user” on the DCS system in use by KMM
? Maintain him/herself current with updates to the DCS
? Be fully aware and familiar with carrier product
? Provide first level support to desk agents on system issues
? Be able to close check-in on flights in a timely manner in coordination with DSC
? Oversee queue management controls especially during peak times
? Assess and deploy adequate desk to cater for passenger checkin loads in coordination with DSC
? Report to DSC and/or AREA MANAGER.
CHECK-IN
Receives the passenger at the "check-in" station, checks the travel documents (ticket, passport / visa, etc.), in
compliance with current procedures and regulations I.A.T.A. with particular reference to the regulation on
dangerous goods.
It weighs the baggage and affixes the label relating to the destination; sends the baggage to the predestined area,
by means of a conveyor belt.
Check the number of hand baggage and issue the boarding pass and, if necessary, issue the print for the excess
baggage found.
BOARDING & TRANSIT
Carry out check-in operations for both passengers in transit (for those with baggage by checking the baggage - tag
match) and for passengers originating with hand baggage only.
In particular cases, assigns places, in compliance with I.A.T.A regulations and current procedures.
Manages the waiting list for both transit passengers and passengers originating with hand baggage only where
required.
Board passengers by carrying out the operations provided for by the I.A.T.A regulations, by the procedures in
force (call for boarding, reminder, collection and control of the boarding pass, call inter-runner, total control pax
on board, etc.) and specific provisions of the carrier.
