Role Description

Smart Materials Ltd is seeking a dedicated Production Assistant / Operator to join our innovative team at our Qormi facility. You will play a key role in the manufacturing of our auxetic flexible PU foam, ensuring smooth operation of machinery, quality control, and adherence to safety and operational standards. This hands-on role is perfect for someone who enjoys working with machines, pays close attention to detail, and thrives in a collaborative environment.


Your key responsibilities will include:

Operate production machinery in line with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and established workflows.
Set up, calibrate, and perform routine maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance and consistent product quality.
Conduct routine quality control checks and testing as directed by supervisors, recording and analyzing results.
Maintain clear and accurate records of operations, test results, and production data using Microsoft Office applications.
Safely and effectively use hand tools during both production and basic maintenance tasks.
Work collaboratively to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues or production disruptions.
Follow all health and safety protocols, ensuring a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment.


Requirements

Proven reliability and trustworthiness: punctual, consistent, and dependable.
Strong safety awareness, with the ability to follow protocols and recognize potential risks.
Previous experience in machine operation and quality control within a manufacturing or production setting.
Ability to handle machinery and use hand tools confidently and correctly.
Good understanding of mechanical or technical processes, mechanical engineering background is a strong asset.
O-Level qualifications in science subjects would be considered an asset.
Excellent communication skills to follow instructions, report issues, and collaborate effectively.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
