Chef / Waiter & Waitress

Dec Catering Limited in Malta is growing and looking to recruit an organized and experienced Chef / Waiter & Waitress to join their team on a full-time basis. The ideal candidate should be reliable and outgoing, with excellent customer service and communication skills. The Chef / Waiter & Waitress will be responsible for providing first-class dishes, complementing memorable experiences to an esteemed clientele.

Key Responsibilities:
Leads kitchen team in the absence of the Head Chef.
Provides guidance to junior kitchen staff members, including, but not limited, to line cooking, food preparation, and dish plating.
Greeting and seating guests.
Presentation of menus and explanations of daily specials, fresh fish, food preparation.
Taking of drinks orders.
Preparation of drinks and wine service.
Cutlery and condiment preparation.
Food service and table clearing.
Bill presentation and cash handling
Oversees and organizes kitchen stock and ingredients.
Ensures a first-in, first-out food rotation system and verifies all food products are properly dated and organized for quality assurance.
Keeps cooking stations stocked, especially before and during prime operation hours.
Hires and trains new kitchen employees to restaurant and kitchen standards.
Manages food and product ordering by keeping detailed records and minimizes waste, plus works with existing systems to improve waste reduction and manage budgetary concerns.
Supervises all food preparation and presentation to ensure quality and restaurant standards.
Assists head chef with menu creation.
Coordinates with the restaurant management team on supply orders, budget, and kitchen efficiency and staffing.

Qualifications

Key Requirements:
Candidates with work experience in food & beverage service, together with related qualifications will be given priority.
Formal culinary training.
At least 3+ years of proven experience in the same and/or similar role.
Extensive food and beverage knowledge.
Restaurant industry knowledge and knowledge of restaurant regulations.
Strong organizational skills and strict attention to detail.
Superior leadership qualities and managerial abilities.
Ability to work under pressure.
Self-motivated and creative problem-solving skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Exceptional customer service skills.
The necessary qualifications as well as food handling certification.
