The Nikon D3100 is a 14.2 megapixel DX format digital SLR with Nikon F-mount announced by Nikon on August 19, 2010. It replaces the Nikon D3000, positioning itself as the entry level of Nikon SLRs. It introduced Nikon's new EXPEED 2 image processor and was the first Nikon DSLR to natively support full HD movie recording with autofocus and the H.264 codec, instead of Motion JPEG.
