White metal Maltese cross on brass, surrounded by circular band with KING'S OWN MALTA REGIMENT,
The 1st Battalion the Royal Malta Regiment of Militia was raised on 1 May 1889 for the defence of the Maltese Islands.
A cadet company, the first company in the regiment, was included in the establishment.
